Musa is the symbolic mountain of Nakashibetsu Town, and although it is not very high at 1005.2 m above sea level, it has a good shape and appears in many lyrics of the town song and school songs, and is very popular with the local residents.
There is a trail from Kamimusa in Nakashibetsu Town, which takes about 2.5 hours.
There is a mountain lodge managed by volunteer mountaineers in the town at the mountain stream.
The opening of the mountain is held on the second Sunday of June, and many climbers visit the mountain every year, weather permitting.
From the summit, the Nekushiro Plateau, Notsuke Peninsula, Kunashiri Island, and the Shiretoko Mountain Range can be seen. It is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Hokkaido.
